Yamaha YZF-R1 is still alive and gets MotoGP winglets

Despite an initial decision to withdraw the YZF-R1 from European streets - keeping it only as a track model - Yamaha has just brought clarity to the future of its iconic superbike. To the delight of fans, the brand has announced the updates for the YZF-R1 and YZF-R1M 2025including street legal versions for markets like the USA and the R1 RACE (track only) for Europe.

MotoGP aerodynamic winglets

The main visual and functional novelty is the addition of aerodynamic carbon fiber winglets for both the R1 and R1M. Developed with the feedback straight from Yamaha's MotoGP program, these winglets have been designed to assist the anti-wheelie electronics, improving sensation and feedback the front of the bike during cornering or heavy braking. Yamaha YZF-R1 2025: more control and precision

In addition to wingletsThe standard R1 receives important chassis improvements. The fully adjustable 43 mm KYB inverted forks have been upgradedThe new design improves damping response, stability and feel for the rider. Individual adjusters on the tubes now allow precise control: rebound damping on the right and high and low speed compression on the left. To top it all off, the forks boast a new Kashima coating, which not only enhances the look with its golden/bronze color, but also optimizes performance.
